Little victories

Do you remember this little cutie?
Little Cutie

Here she is in the early days
Well she turned 3 months old last week and I couldn't believe how much growing she did in that time, my oh my.  First and foremost she is growing into one sweet thing - holding up her head a little better, smiling - oh boy the smiles!, and just staring at everything in grand wonder, especially her mama.

Makes me think about he importance of other milestones we celebrate in life - which tend to be mostly the big ones, like birthdays (dad just had a biggie!), new jobs or promotions, finishing something you really wanted to do, moving into a new space or a new place, getting married….and all these things that really begin to shape us somehow and define who we are.

But what about all those little ones, they count too don't they?

Grasping things for the first time, learning to transition quickly from a F to Dm to G chords on the guitar, holding a yoga pose without blocks, drinking 10 shots of espresso, finishing a hard workout, making Sunday dinner, or packing for a trip in less than 2 hours (still working on this one…)

Whatever they are,
I was reminded last week when visiting little cutie
to celebrate the little victories a little more too

what little milestones are you proud of?

Going boot to boot, cheek to cheek

And the more interesting news is….
Well, with the popularity of the Footloose re-release (its front page news, don't you know), I managed to finagle my way into the 10:40 show, scootering very very fast up to 32nd Street with Yahtzee in tow, cutting line to order popcorn and rushing into Theater 9 forty minutes before the show started. The cleaning crews were just finishing from prior show so I busted through the door and got the perfect center seats and waited.

10 minutes go by, nobody else comes into theater.

Another 10, a few couples, small groups of girls, stragglers..

Another 10 minutes, and we were a group of about 20 in the 100 seat auditorium.

The previews started and none were related to Footloose so I drew the conclusion we must be in the wrong theater, wrong show. It just doesn't add up, first night Footloose is out, only 20 guests. the previews - just as I was going to blame Yahtzee for misguiding me, the old familiar Footloose song kicks in…

"So how was it?", you ask.  I don't want to give too much away. I thought that Ariel was a little miscast, but Ren was not bad - but also not as good as Kev.  The movie was of course beefed up for today's day and age and to be honest, it made me miss old school everything a little - and the dancing. Deffo could of had more dancing. Also Willard was great…again.

I am now inspired to watch the original again…

keep it footloose and fancy free ya'll

Happy Birthday Dad

My Dad turned the big 70 last weekend!
Happy Birthday
you have achieved so much in your 70 years, but I especially appreciate

the moments sitting with you on the porch swing
the letters you wrote when i moved to Germany that kept my spirits up
getting straight A’s on all those science projects
the long father daughter phone calls
reading the paper and having coffee on Sunday mornings
Love you, Dad.
