Silverstro and mC - I will miss the good morning greetings, office antics, coffee runs, IMs, everyday banter, lunch time gossip, walks and Mission: Diet. And of course MonsieurBon-to-the Jour - Zut Alors!
Josh Ritter is a singer-songwriter, a little Irish folk and a little Bob Dylan.
On Saturday night, me, Yahtzee and Cara headed over to theMusic Hall Williamsburg for his concert. I totally fell for Josh's playfulness on stage. He had the excitement of a young boy and it spilled over into the enthusiasm of the crowd throughout the entire set. Without a doubt, Josh (yes, we are totes on a first name basis) was full of passion about music and performing. This level of enthusiasm is contagious and it's left me to wonder about my own endeavors, to question if I am pursuing those things that are truly meaningful to me (and yes, the Vespa deffo goes without saying...)
I am all for making time to work out - no excuses - fine. But this guy...really? He even pulled out an exercise band and placed it around the light post for a few one arm rows. Who are the people in your neighborhood?
Me and Silvestro managed to find 30 minutes at lunch for a trip to an old neighborhood fav, 11th Street Cafe. I had the normal brew which I already know I like (small cheat) and we had two cookies, a peanut butter and chocolate chip. Mmmm, peanut butter...
I have walked by this particular Vespa for several years now, always admiring how theaquamarineand red colors harmonize together. And now with my [pedal] bike being stolen, I have reason to want to roll on. I am sure to be quite the zipster and the hipster on this beauty. I'll be going all city in true style!
Not to mention I am already eyeing up this trendy Les Aleliers Ruby helmut.
and of course, I have not lost sight of my later ambitions...
DUMBO was one of the first neighborhoods we visited after moving to NYC in 2005, it was fun to go back for a visit. The International photo festival was pretty cool, I especially liked the Use Me Abuse Me exhibition where they use pre-existing photography to make new images
A few months ago I saw some old pulleys when I was antiquing in the east village. When Spring arrived I got the idea to use the pulleys as plant hangers - this is the result. My brother was the master-mind behind the knots, otherwise it would have been big bow ties instead. We also planted some flowers for the old industrial drawer "flower boxes". Plants are alive for one week already, a record.
Two lattes, please. Loved the ambience of Bakeri in Williamsburg, an old world feel. The pastries were made on the premises and smelled gorgeous. Tasted even more so....but we were there for the coffee of course. Latte's were very smooth and the leaf top design was a special touch.
I fell in love with this song last year by Priscilla Ahn, today it takes on even a more special meaning. And I dedicate it to my dear friend Dene, who has always known how to fly.
After many months of plotting & planning, I am thrilled to be writing LIVE from Urban Disco. I would like to post something witty and meaningful and intriguing, but after many months of "blog undecided", I am happy to just settle for a simple Ohm Yeah.
