I believe in Santa

It looks like little Axel Ivan is pondering his Christmas list

but I can tell you that me and Yahtzee must have been very good this year to have been blessed with this little gift from heaven

Christmas time is magical for sure, even the days after as I wonder around my mothers house in my new slippers or look out at the snow covered lawn, I am still carrying the Christmas spirit.

More christmas songs please!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday.

Santa takes NYC

The holiday season has taken on a whole new meaning this year.
Axel's first encounter with Santa Claus is a bit unconventional.
On Saturday, we saw thousands of Santa's as they embark on the yearly pilgrimage across Manhattan to spread holiday cheer- along with elves, reindeer, Ms. Claus...polar bears! you name it.
If you are not familiar, just have a look here or see Axel in action here.

Last weekend my sister, brother in law and kids visited. To give them a taste of NYC over the holiday, we ventured to mid-town despite the crowds.  We managed to get a glimpse of the tree and watch the ice skaters at Rockefeller Center. It was a lot of effort to be an observer, especially for short legs.

Bryant Park was a little more manageable.
We got together with friends for some ice skating of our own. It is a little harder than i remembered it.

See ya soon

Rock the Backstage

No Flyers Allowed
We celebrated Christmas this year with
Roadies, Groupies and ROCKSTARS!

We only needed a kitchen table….that could double as a stage
(ours is soapstone and weighs 400 lbs so this was actually not an easy feat)
How Low can you go Silvestro

Food in the form of a 12 Ft of Hoagie
of which 9 ft were eaten!

Some signs & stage props…enter "the artist"

Hard Booze & a good rocking' bartender

Some sound checks and warm ups...

….A kick-ass band - with a kick ass guitarist of course

Falling for Breedlove

 And ROADIES, GROUPIES & ROCKSTARS
to rock the house with Dasha

 Hope your holiday's were mind-blowing.

Piggy Hat Season!

Yes, it reads exactly as you think it reads.

Merry Christmas!
Hey, what's going on over there at the Disco?

Well, tonight the temperature started to drop, the rain began to fall, and I began to get excited
As soon as I got home I threw on the Piggy Hat, made a pot of coffee, got out the ink pads and stamps - and for the past few hours been listening to Counting Crows and RCHP as I make our holiday cards and do a little party planning

Dare I say it?
Here at Disco,
its beginning to look a little like christmas
…well Christmas Dasha and Yahtzee style anyway.
Piggy Hat = Creative Mood
The Gluhwein & Xmas Music come later along with the tree decorating and the stocking hanging and the smooches under the Mistletoe!

Just gearing up to the mood we were in Last Year when we were in full swing with Party Preparations and Hot Toddy's - but thats a week or two away still

Christmas.

As the stockings hung by the chimney with care imply, it was a full house in Pittsburgh this year.
I spent the holiday with my family and it was extra special this year because my Aunt and Cousin also visited.

We did Secret Santa this year too, which was a first and quite fun.
I will be sporting a very pretty vintage polka-dot dress and ostrich feather beret in the coming weeks
Dasha as "Secret Santa"
Family time consisted of many activities in and about the Hays Compound.

SNOWBALL FIGHT!!!!
(not a winning strategy to play against a teenage boy)
Or whilst sporting suede pants instead of snow pants...

Shoveling Dasha Style

 Mom made cookies..mmmmm
Which was followed by a trip to the gym

one cookies, two cookies, three cookies, four..

Michelle brought over her guitar and at some point over the course of the several days, everyone picked it up to strum a few chords.  Its an addiction that runs in the family.

The Christmas Ham

We made several "merry christmas" calls, including a "herzlichen weihnachten" to our family in Germany.  Dad practiced a little German in anticipation of that one.
Papa ist der Beste

Talking to Tall Boy
Lest we not forget about the right smoking session we girls had while waiting for Santa (New Year's resolution # 278)

Oh, and watching the Steelers kick  *&^% on Thursday night!

I think the Jukebox wars and singing was the actual highlight @ VIFWA

The true magic was in every smile on the little faces of my Niece and Nephew
A special reading of The Night Before Christmas

Stocking Surprises

Not sure if my Nephew likes his Puppy Hat as much as I like my Piggy

Undeniable bond between a Father and his Son

This smile just shines and warms hearts everywhere

This was from our little XMAS at Urban Disco

I am now home again and waiting on this special man to return from his visit with our German family so we can begin our slide together into 2011

And begin the dig-out
Return home to NYC Monday Night - West Broadway

Our Home
Unloading was a right chore
I hope your Christmas was as full of family, love, magic and tradition as ours.
More from Urban Disco in the new year.
